Art history professor

A contemporary art historian and critic, Guitemie Maldonado dedicated her doctoral research to biomorphism in art between the two world wars (Le Cercle et l’amibe, 2006) and then continued to explore this vast field by developing monographic studies (Jean Arp, Wassily Kandinsky, Joaquin Torres Garcia, Sonia Delaunay, Henry Moore, …) and by focusing on in-between situations (art-nature, art-science, abstraction-figuration).

She studied the status of abstraction post-World War II, especially through a monographic study on Nicolas de Staël. Thanks to various encounters and circumstances she started to write over contemporary art, for exhibitions (Bernard Piffaretti, Djamel Tatah, Sophie Dubosc, Antony Gormley, Rachel Whiteread, Pierre Buraglio, Frédérique Lucien…) and magazines (Artforum, artpress, Roven and currently The Art Newspaper).
