Dialogue - Emanuele Coccia

A philosopher and teacher at EHESS, Emanuele Coccia studies, among other things, the nature of living things. He dialogs with Alain Berland about his latest works: La vie des plantes, une métaphysique du mélange and Métamorphoses, an essay published last March.  

Since 2011, Emanuele Coccia has been a lecturer at École des hautes en sciences sociales (EHESS) in Paris. He first trained in agronomy before turning to philosophy and philology. After studying in Florence, where he obtained his PhD in 2005, he was invited as a professor-researcher by the universities of Tokyo (2009), Buenos Aires (2010), Düsseldorf (2013-2014), Columbia (2015-2016), Weimar (2019) and Munich (2020).

He is the author of La vie sensible, La vie des plantes, Une métaphysique du mélange and of Métamorphoses (Payot et Rivages, Paris, 2010, 2016 et 2020), translated into several languages. 

In 2019, he contributed to the exhibition Nous les arbres, presented at Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain in Paris.
