After obtaining a post-doctorate at the Raoul Dandurand Chair at the Université du Québec à Montréal, Frédéric Ramel was a lecturer in political sciences at the Université Jean Moulin (Lyon 3) from 2001 to 2007.
He is now a university agrégé and joined the Jean Monnet Faculty of Law (Université Paris-Sud 11). He also worked at the Centre d'études et de recherche de l'Ecole militaire before participating in the creation of the Institut de recherche stratégique de l'Ecole militaire, of which he was the scientific director from 2009 to 2013. He has been a University Professor at Sciences Po Paris since 2012 and is also a researcher at CERI. His work focuses on international security, intergovernmental organizations, and the role of ideas and sensitivity in global space.
