Drawing humor: from press cartoons to caricatures

Drawing humor: from press cartoons to caricatures

Détail du cours

It will be a question of acquiring a repertoire of drawn forms and of constituting, in the carnivalesque and graphic a "scale model" version of what surrounds us. The classes will focus on the possibility of of existing images (rupture of scales, staging of the grotesque), to start from the history of the caricature and press cartoons in order to transpose them to current events. The drawing exercises will be based on the capacity of the medium to make figures and space elastic, and will study metamorphosis and "animalisation animalisation" applied to selected subjects.

The course will also be an opportunity to produce a magazine or a fanzine, to gather and test the productions made, thus highlighting graphic dialogues and allowing different languages to flourish.
