Tarik Kiswanson wins the 2023 Marcel Duchamp Prize

Congratulations to Tarik Kiswanson, 2014 graduate and congratulatee, who wins the Prix Marcel Duchamp 2023!

Awarded by the Association pour la Diffusion Internationale de l'Art Français (Adiaf), to highlight the abundance of the French art scene, the Marcel Duchamp Prize aims to distinguish and promote internationally the most representative artists of their generation.

"Born in Sweden in 1986, Tarik Kiswanson comes from a Palestinian family who had to leave their country for North Africa and then Jordan. Encompassing sculpture, writing, drawing, performance, film and sound works, his protean practice explores subjects linked to memory and heritage, temporality and belonging, but also more broadly to transformation and metamorphosis. Notions of uprooting, regeneration and renewal are at the heart of his art." Matthieu Jacquet

Tarik Kiswanson's work will be presented at the Centre Pompidou from October 4, 2023 to January 8, 2024 alongside works and installations by the 3 finalist artists: Bouchra Khalili, Massinssa Selmani and Bertille Bak, who graduated from Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2007.
