Le Dessin romantique de Géricault à Victor Hugo

Dreaming of elsewhere and of the past, passionate about horses, subjugated by the spectacle of nature, French Romanticism was nourished by various sources, translated into drawings in watercolor as well as in pen and pencil. Through some thirty exceptional sheets from the collection of the Beaux-Arts de Paris, some of which have never been published before, and signed by Géricault, Delacroix, Victor Hugo, Scheffer, Paul Delaroche, Huet, Horace Vernet, James Pradier, Léon Cogniet, etc., the catalog of the exhibition of drawings reveals the passions of a generation that was as ardent and generous as it was melancholy and sentimental.

Exhibition at the Cabinet des dessins des Beaux-Arts de Paris from March to June 2021.
