Two types of candidates will be considered for admission:

  - First-year students.

  - Transfer students.
Candidates of either type must submit their portfolios (pre-admission screening) and pass the
entrance examination (for final selection), which they may only take twice.
The dates for application submittal are set by the Director of Ensba and are available on the
Ensba intranet site at the beginning of the academic year.

 

For registering and re-registering formalities :

 

The admission procedure consists of a pre-admission screening procedure and, if passed, the final selection process.
Pre-admission screening: 1 st -year candidates must be over 18 and under 24 years of age on 1 October of the current year.
Each candidate must submit a duly completed application form accompanied by a portfolio containing samples of his or her original creative work. For large-scale or bulky works, candidates are required to submit a truly representative portfolio of photographs (but no slides). Drawings must be originals and videos must be in VHS format.

The final selection process involves three stages:

•    A test of drawing skills.

•    A test of cultural knowledge and analytical skills, comprising a written essay in which applicants must demonstrate not only their faculties of interpretation and creativity, but also their general knowledge.

•    Submission of a portfolio of original works, followed by an interview with the admissions committee, which asks not only about the applicant's work but also about his or her particular fields of interest.
The admissions committee's decisions on admissions are final.

 

Submission of application: Application forms are available at the Accueil Scolarité (Registrar's Office). The completed form is to be submitted to the same office together with a portfolio containing about twenty original works and a cheque for € 40.

N.B. Applications that are incomplete or submitted late or whose receipt involves any formalities or expenses for Ensba will be automatically rejected.

 



To be eligible for admission as transfer students, applicants must be over 18 and under 26 years of age on 1 October of the current year and, by the date of submission of their application , must hold a certificate confirming successful completion of at least two years of higher education (university diploma or a certificate accredited by the French Ministry of Employment and Solidarity) or furnish proof of qualifying professional experience.

Only diplomas/certificates obtained prior to application will be taken into consideration.

Foreign students are subject to the same application requirements as French students.

Certified French translations must be provided for all foreign-language documents.

Applicants must have a good command of French and are requested to furnish proof thereof (e.g. certificates to that effect). Their proficiency in French will be assessed by the admissions committee in the course of the admission interview.

All candidates must pass the pre-admission screening and final assessment for admission. Extramural or temporary attendance is permitted only under official arrangements for student exchange between Ensba and partner schools.



REGISTRATION AND RE-REGISTRATION

New students automatically receive registration forms by the beginning of September, which they must complete and return with payment of the registration fee. Continuing students must submit their re-registration cards ( fiches de réinscription ), signed by their studio heads, by the deadlines that have been set by the administration. Provided they meet the requirements for re-registration, they will be issued their re-registration papers by early September. Students may request a leave of absence in case of illness or pregnancy or for professional or personal reasons of a particularly serious nature. Whatever the circumstances, the request must be submitted to the head of the Service de la Vie Scolaire (Student Affairs Service) with adequate supporting documents. The intended duration of leave must be clearly stated and must not exceed one year. Those who fail to comply with these requirements will no longer be deemed registered students.

 

AUDITORS

Auditors (non-degree students) may attend theory courses subject to authorization from the
Director of Ensba and subject to available capacity. Accepted auditors will be charged a
200
fee for registration.
Auditors are not awarded certi?cates for course attendance, nor do they have access to the studios.
