Collections and the teaching of drawing contribute to the reputation of the Beaux-Arts de Paris. In the spring, the drawing firm inaugurates a new cycle devoted to artists graduates of the school who impose themselves on the international scene. In 2019, Jérôme Zonder is in the spotlight. He is very popular with the public for his renewed approach in the field of drawing.
This is the portrait that Jérôme Zonder wanted to explore, in comparison with two works in the collection: the Portrait of Henri Regnault by Thomas Couture, recent acquisition, and the Portrait of Pierre Gillet of Hyacinthe Rigaud. Eighteen portraits, three of monumental dimensions take place on the walls of the cabinet drawings with the title given names for models, not forgetting of course that of the artist, when it is a self-portrait.
